New public art is coming to a prominent location in the heart of downtown Brunswick! An existing wall at The Citizen newspaper building will be repaired and feature a vibrant mural by local artist Lea Craigie-Marshall. The mural will depict both historic and new landmarks as well as capture the essence of the community’s heritage. A goal of the mural is for viewers to picture themselves as part of the history and culture of Brunswick. Featured landmarks include King’s Pizza, Brunswick Bowling Alley, Smoketown Brewing, Brunswick Public Library, train stations, schools, churches, and much more. This new piece of art will be adjacent and complementary to the future Brunswick Archway that is also currently in the works. The Frederick Arts Council is working on both pieces as part of the Public Arts Master Plan. We can’t wait to see the finished mural in the next few weeks!
