Entering its second year of operations, The Salvation Army continues to offer a safe respite for people experiencing homelessness at its Day Shelter located at Grace United Church of Christ.
At the Day Shelter, homeless individuals have access to mobile case management, health services, and programming from partnering agencies. The Day Shelter also provides a respite from extreme weather, lunch, computers, and rest spaces. These resources are available from 8am-4pm every day of the year.
This program is made possible by collaborative efforts of funders and organizations in the Frederick community. Funders include Ausherman Family Foundation, The Community Foundation of Frederick County, and The Community Foundation’s Mark and Susan Butt Saturday Mornings Fund. Special recognition should be made for the congregation at Grace United Church of Christ who have provided a wonderful home for the program and ample support.
Over the last year, The Salivation Army has supported a number of people with a variety of services. This year, they hope to increase their case management and services offered as well as plan for the future to bolster the infrastructure of the building by adding showers and a laundry facility.
