Ausherman Family Foundation recently presented Second Chances Garage with a Capacity Building Grant to support a strategic planning retreat and a General Grant to support Operating Costs. The Board will utilize a consultant to build a strategic growth plan and establish short, medium, and long term goals. After attending the 2019 Nonprofit Summit, Second Chances Garage acknowledged an important next step for the organization is to develop a new strategic growth plan. They have engaged Patrick Jinks of The Jinks Perspective as the consultant which will lead their Board in an upcoming strategic planning retreat.
Second Chances Garage is unlike any organization in Frederick County! They provide affordable, reliable transportation to economically vulnerable individuals and families. Their overall goal is to get usable vehicles back in service for those who might otherwise be unable to own a vehicle. They accept donated vehicles of any condition, repair what they can, and get them back into the community. They also provide a Reduced-Cost Auto Repair Program for local residents who qualify economically have repairs done to their vehicles at half the price of other garages. Second Chances Garage has succeeded in establishing more than 20 partnerships with Frederick County agencies who refer them to clients in need of a refurbished Program Car.
