Meditation Murals

Two new murals have been added to Frederick’s rick collection of public art that capture the essence of peace and the miracle of nature.

A team of artists, including Karen Pollard, Jack Pabas, and Anthony Owens collaborated to bring these unique pieces to the community. The murals have a 3D element with recycled and scrap tile pieces providing bright color against the brick walls.

The first mural is titled Awareness of Being and it is installed on the side of the Federated Charities building. This mural features a woman, with her eyes closed, surrounded by images of nature, with streams of color floating from her mind.

The second mural is located on the Lincoln Community building and features a mural titled Focused Intention. A young man can be seen in this mural. Similar to the first mural, he has his eyes closed and has bright colors surrounding his head. However, in this mural, his mind is open and in it there are depictions of the sun, moon, and stars.

Karen Pollard, one of the artists, commented in the Frederick Magazine that her goal was to capture peace in these murals and the miracle of nature. These murals are captivating and inspire a passerby to stop and appreciate their vibrant colors and serene images.
