The Ausherman Family Foundation, a private foundation established in 2006, recently awarded the Weinberg Center for the Arts a General Grant in the amount of $15,250 to help fund improvements to the current projection system.

The two organizations have a long history together. In 2012, the Ausherman Family Foundation catalyzed The Frederick Speaker Series in partnership with Frederick County Public Libraries and the Weinberg Center for the Arts. The Speaker Series brings high quality, thought-provoking speakers to Frederick. Popularity of the event continues to grow year after year demanding the Weinberg to continually upgrade their technology. To accommodate the large audience, the theatre needs the capability to broadcasting an artist or speaker, their presentation, videos and images as well as an ASL interpreter simultaneously. In addition to the Speaker Series, the projection system will also bring a sharper, clearer image for film presentations.

“The Weinberg Center for the Arts is greatly appreciative of support from the Ausherman Family Foundation which has allowed for continued improvements in both capital and programming projects,” said John Healey, Executive Theater Manager at Weinberg Center for the Arts. “The new projector system greatly enhances the audience experience for the Frederick Speaker Series and movies.  The Frederick Speaker Series has proved to be a vital part of programming at the Weinberg Center for the Arts made possible in no small part by the generous support of the Ausherman Family Foundation.”

Ausherman Family Foundation believes in supporting the arts to uplift Frederick County. In 2016, Ausherman Family Foundation also funded the Weinberg’s Strategic Plan.

“The Weinberg Center for the Arts has played an integral role in the growth of the Downtown Frederick arts community and we are honored to have the opportunity to enhance their audience’s experience,” said Marvin Ausherman, Chairman of Ausherman Family Foundation.

General Grants are open for application year-round and are awarded to cover program, project, and operating costs. Grants may be awarded with or without a challenge matching funds component.
