Distinguished Citizen Award

On June 10, the Frederick County Boys Scouts of America held their 14th annual George Delaplaine Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner at the Lynfield Event Complex. The event has been held every year since 1996 to honor an outstanding citizen of Frederick County. The list of past recipients reads like a who’s who of Frederick County citizens. Proceeds from the event help support the Scouting program for both Appalachian Trail and Catoctin Mountain Districts, the two Scouting districts which jointly serve all of Frederick County. This year, Marvin Ausherman was honored as the 2009 Distinguished Citizen.
